Loch Garten Osprey Centre is one of the best places in Scotland to view the Osprey, the centre is located within the Abernethy forest between Boat of Garten and Nethy bridge, on the banks of Loch Garten.
The centre is open every day during the summer season when the ospreys return from Africa to breed in Scotland, the times of opening are 10 am to 6pm from April till the end of August. Facilities in the centre include a well stocked gift shop and toilets, there is ample parking at the entrance to the centre. The attraction is ideal for bird lovers and families alike, with great viewing areas that include binoculars and CCTV to view these astonishing birds, watch through the season from breeding to fledgling, and watch a story unfold as each season usually offers plenty of drama.
Abernethy forest also offers the chance to see some other wildlife, including Crossbills, Capercaillie, Crested Tit, Goldeneye and plenty of Red Squirrels, you may also be lucky enough to spot the elusive Pine Marten.
The entrance charges are also very reasonable, adults are £5, children under 16 £2 or purchase a family ticket for only £10 for up to 2 adults and 4 children, If you are a member of the RSPB you get in for free.
