Situated in traditional 18th century thatched cottage on the main road through the village of Glencoe, the Glencoe Folk Museum displays a detailed insight into the history of the area of Glencoe and its colorful people.
The museum is only half an hour’s drive from Fort William, and around 2 hours from both Glasgow and Inverness. Street parking is available outside the museum although this is limit especially during busy periods.
Within the museum you can expect to see some fantastic collections including Jacobite relics, historic costumes, paintings, classic toys, historical photographs and domestic items from around the Glencoe area. The exhibitions don’t just concentrate on the Glencoe Massacre, you will also find information about the 2 world wars, Slate mining, Farming, Daily Life around Glencoe, Textiles and Archaeology.
throughout the open season the museum runs a fun programme of events, projects, talks and workshops that are fun for all the family.
