Holidaying in the UK has recently become more popular because of the economic downturn and the price of the pound, so where better to holiday than Scotland.
The Scottish Highland is a fantastic place to visit for numerous reasons, those reasons are simple it is an incredibly beautiful country with an unbelievable choice of things to do.
Where better to start than Edinburgh or Glasgow both are accessible with excellent airports and both have easy access to the Scottish Highlands, Both cities have excellent hotels and plenty of things to do, it is a great way to start a tour of Scotland in one of Scotland’s cities.
When you have finished with the city the Highlands are only a small car drive and within the hour you can be in some of the most stunning scenery anywhere in the world. Stop at places like Loch Lomond or Perth on your travels North and then hit the big attractions like Glen Coe/Fort William or the Cairngorms National Park both of these areas have thousands of things to do and you could easily stay in these areas alone and spend a full week touring.
The western Isles is also a stunning place and you probably won’t see scenery like it anywhere in the world, the history and culture is second to none, all of the islands are unique and you will come away from each of them with lasting memories.
Sports in the highlands are in abundance with many choices to enjoy, from Mountain walking and canoeing you also have white water rafting and mountain bike tracks and in the winter you have the famous Skiing resort of Aviemore with its Cairngorm Mountain backdrop. You can also enjoy some of the most famous Salmon rivers in the world and enjoy fishing, or if shooting takes your fancy there are many clay pigeon shoot sites all over the country, And for you Golfers out there history itself explains why Scotland has the best courses in the world.
If you prefer shopping Inverness will provide you with excellent shops and all of the Highlands visitor attractions have first class gift shops, you will never be without anything to shop for in the highlands.
If it’s a relaxing holiday you want there is no better place sit by a log fire in one of Scotland’s excellent hotels drinking a dram of Whiskey or sit by a wonderful Scottish river and watch the wildlife wander by, feel all of your stresses lift away and take in the fresh clean air.
The wildlife in Scotland is fantastic all year round and if you are a keen photographer you will be in your element, wander around the forests or the mountains and be prepared for the fantastic diversity of the Scottish wildlife, there is never a dull moment.
I could go on forever describing what Scotland has to offer , all I suggest is you take a look around this website and take in what’s available, we have resources on this site for you to book great accommodation so go ahead enjoy a trip to Scotland and its Highlands and Islands.
